We thought brewing gluten free beer would be easy. After all, brewing beer is meant to be easy. Home brew kits are available at most supermarkets and at all home brew shops.
Making gluten free beer is not that easy. It has taken 2 years of research and development.
As at September 2004, there are a number of gluten free beers available worldwide, but none are made using the traditional method of brewing with malted grains.
This means that these beers do not have the complexity of taste as beers made using the tradional methods, and are more expensive to produce.
Our aim is to make beer of such a quality that all the beer drinking members of the family and friends will enjoy it.
Experimental batches of our beer, have been available for sampling at Victorian Coeliac Society Health Forums in 2003 and 2004. It has also been tasted by professional beer judges who were impressed.
We have adapted a malting plant to suit gluten free grains and the first commercial scale brew is scheduled.
The company is involved with research into malting and brewing gluten free beer at the University of Ballarat and this is long term commitment.
A percentage of the profit from the beer will be donated to the Coeliac Research Fund.
